Psyche!<\/h2>\n<p>The first post on this series delved into the importance of signing certificates to establish a trust and validity typically for, but not exclusive to, working or business relationships. Those instructions assumed a few things including possession of an S\/MIME certificate (which, any of our experienced and friendly members at thesslstore.com would be happy to assist you in obtaining), Outlook and a Windows OS (7 or higher).<\/p>\n<p>There has been such a high demand (3, possibly even four requests; high demand is relative, I suppose) for instructions for Mac users that I thought I would follow up with some clean instructions for how to apply an S\/MIME certificate to Outlook 2016 on an Apple machine.<\/p>\n<p>And, here they are\u2026<span id=\"newline\"><\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Instructions for Implementing an S\/MIME Certificate on Outlook 2016 for Mac<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Assumptions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>OS X version 10.5.8 or later (this includes any macOS version)<\/li>\n<li>Outlook 2016 for Mac<\/li>\n<li>Possession of a proper security certificate file (.p12)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>*(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesslstore.com\">Need help with last one?<\/a> Click here and go for a chat)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Execution Steps:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Double click your .p12 certificate to add to \u2018Keychain Access\u2019<\/li>\n<li>There will be a prompt to \u2018Add Certificates\u2019\n<ul>\n<li>Keychain = \u2018System\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click \u2018Add\u2019<br>\n<em><em><strong>Note:<\/strong> You may have to enter admin credentials to add certificates to &#8216;System&#8217; \u2018Certificate\u2019, select the dropdown and pick the correct certificate (which the private key is associated to)<br>\n<em><strong>Note:<\/strong> Optionally, you can check the box to automatically \u2018Sign outgoing messages\u2019, \u2018Send digitally signed messages as clear text\u2019 and \u2018Include my certificates in signed messages\u2019<br>\n<\/em><strong>Advice:<\/strong> I would recommend all 3 check boxes to be active<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Under \u2018Encryption\u2019 -&gt; You now will have certificate functionally just as you would on a Windows based machine in Outlook 2016.
