Product Marketing Manager

Job Summary: The Product Marketing Manager position will be responsible for successfully moving products through our various sales channels. This person will be the engine behind our overall product strategy and will utilize proven tactics to achieve exceptional sales and marketing results. As our product evangelist, you will lead the charge on all product launches and campaigns.

You will need to be completely in tune with our products, competitors, vendors and overall industry eco-system. You will also need to know our buyers better than they know themselves. Know how they make their buying decisions, personas, etc. Use strategic insight backed by market evidence to drive the development of product positioning and messaging that will resonate and ultimately lead to a purchase. This person will need to have strong copywriting & persuasive writing skills.

Collaborate with our marketing team to develop innovative collateral, campaigns and programs that drive demand for our products. Taking true ownership of the product(s) and paying attention to detail will be critical to the success, as well as understanding the product’s value proposition in a way that resonates and clearly articulates how our products solve the buyer’s problems. By obsessing over tracking performance, you’ll have the data to validate what works and what doesn't.

Overall, this role will require cross-functional collaboration with many different teams, it will be a balancing act that requires strong communication & diplomatic skills, such as knowing when to push back and when to dive deep.

Responsibilities

  • Gain market intelligence–be the expert on our buyers, who are they, how they buy and their key buying criteria.
  • Understand the competitive landscape–become an expert on our competition and how they are positioned.
  • Collaborate with the appropriate parties to develop product positioning and messaging that resonates with our target buyer personas.
  • Understand and document our buyer's process, including where they get information, and the who, what, when and why behind the decisions they make. Then drive changes to our sales and marketing processes based on your findings.
  • Develop a marketing plan for the products you support in conjunction with our marketing team, including key activities and budgets to support the retention of existing customers and the acquisition of new customers.
  • Assess the effectiveness of the marketing programs that support your products on an ongoing basis, and report back to the business on required changes.
  • Plan the launches of net-new products and releases of existing products and manage the cross-functional implementation of the plan.
  • Act as the primary thought leader for the products you support externally, including speaking engagements if necessary and written works.
  • Understand and support our various sales channels; educate and train accordingly on the problems our products will solve for our buyers and users; develop internal tools and external collateral and teach them how and when to use it.
  • Present our products in ways that will strengthen our brand and boost sales.
  • Be a creative and quantitative thinker. Deploy various product marketing techniques, like email campaigns and effective pricing strategies.
  • Your goal will be to develop and implement the most profitable plans to position and promote our products.
  • Study and master all company products.
  • Become our subject matter expert that can translate technical details into benefits for the user.
  • Follow and analyze market trends to properly position products.
  • Be a part of the pricing strategy process.
  • Develop product marketing strategies (product launch plan, pricing, promotion, advertising etc.)
  • Craft compelling messages across marketing channels (collateral, presentations, landing pages, ad campaigns) as needed.
  • Work with various teams (design, content, acquisition, product, sales) to implement unique strategies.
  • Test marketing product features, releases and ad copy.
  • Evaluate projects using relevant KPIs and feedback from existing and prospective customers.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of product marketing experience with at least 2 years of experience in a market-facing role (e.g. delivering presentations to customers and prospects, conducting competitor analysis and market research).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent people and management skills to interact with staff, colleagues, cross-functional teams and third parties. Team player!
  • Proven track record of supporting business development initiatives.
  • Outstanding copywriting skills. Excellent writing skills.
  • Exceptional ROI-tracking skills, able to prove what is –or isn't–working.
  • Marketing knowledge mandatory, B2B marketing experience is a must.
  • Solid leadership skills.
  • Must be a strong presenter, comfortable in front of large, senior groups, and a solid writer.
  • Numerically literate, comfortable working with numbers, making sense of metrics and processing figures with spreadsheets.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Proficient with Sales Automation tools.
  • Ability to work evenings occasionally.
