The following instructions will guide you through the CSR generation process on Microsoft Exchange 2010. To learn more about CSRs and the importance of your private key, reference our Overview of Certificate Signing Request<\/a> article. If you already generated the CSR and received your trusted SSL certificate, reference our SSL Installation Instructions and disregard the steps below.<\/a><\/p>\n

1. Launch Exchange<\/h2>\n

Launch Microsoft Exchange 2010<\/strong> from your programs and select Exchange Management Console.<\/strong><\/p>\n

2. Navigate to “New Exchange Certificate”<\/h2>\n

Select Manage Databases <\/strong>on the right hand side.<\/p>\n

Select Server Configurations<\/strong> in the left side menu.<\/p>\n

Select New Exchange Certificate<\/strong> in the right side menu.<\/p>\n

3. Enter a Friendly Name<\/h2>\n

Enter a Friendly Name<\/strong> when prompted in the opened window.<\/p>\n

Note:<\/em><\/strong> Please name the file something you can easily recognize in the future. This will only be an internal reference name and will not be part of your SSL certificate.<\/em><\/p>\n

4. Indicate if certificate is Wildcard<\/h2>\n

In the Domain Scope <\/strong>menu, select the check box ONLY<\/strong> if you are using a Wildcard Certificate (*.yourdomain.com) and if so, skip to Step 6. If not, proceed accordingly to the next screen\/step.<\/p>\n

5. Specify Domain Names<\/h2>\n

In the Exchange<\/strong> Configuration<\/strong> menu, click the Service Options<\/strong> that you plan on securing and specify the Domain Name <\/strong>for each service.<\/p>\n

Note:<\/em><\/strong> The next screen will suggest names for you. You can remove them if you like by right clicking on them.<\/em><\/p>\n

6. Enter in the\u00a0CSR Details<\/h2>\n
