Requirement 11 is all about scanning \u2014 what to scan, when to scan, how to scan, and whom to report the scan results to. Fun stuff like that. And knowing where to find an approved scanning vendor is a huge part of that. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fortunately, there\u2019s an easy solution to what seems like an\nonerous task \u2014 one that\u2019s both efficient and affordable: Sectigo\u2019s PCI scanning\ntool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019ll get to that in a minute. Here are a few things you\u2019ll have\nto accomplish:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Perform <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesslstore.com\/resources\/what-is-an-asv-vulnerability-scan\/\">quarterly internal and external scans<\/a><\/li><li>Report the quarterly scan results to your acquiring bank<\/li><li>Use scanning tools from a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesslstore.com\/resources\/what-is-a-pci-approved-scanning-vendor\/\">PCI DSS approved scanning vendor<\/a> (those approved by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council, or what\u2019s known as PCI SSC)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Got that? This means that you\u2019ll need to purchase a scanner\ntool or outsource the scans completely, and you\u2019ll need to make sure that you\u2019re\nworking with an approved vendor. Furthermore, you\u2019ll need to file quarterly\nreports with your acquiring bank demonstrating that you scanned and fixed any\nvulnerabilities the scans discovered. Failure to do so can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesslstore.com\/resources\/pci-non-compliance-what-happens-if-i-dont-follow-pci-dss\/\">lead\nto penalties between $5,000 and $100,000 per month<\/a>. Yes, <em>per month<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not exactly chump change. That\u2019s a lot of money \u2014 especially\nif you\u2019re a small or mid-size business. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, how do you handle the scanning requirement to avoid\nthese penalties and to stay compliant with PCI requirements?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Find a Reputable PCI Approved Scanning Vendor<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not all PCI approved scanning vendors, or what are known as\nASVs, are made equal. First let\u2019s talk about what it takes to become one. There\nis a strict set of standards that each vendor must abide by.
