How to add a CAA Record on GoDaddy

Checking CAA records is now mandatory for all Certificate Authorities. Though you don’t have to, we recommend setting up a DNS CAA record so that you can dictate which CAs can and can’t issue certificates for your website. Here how to add a CAA record on GoDaddy.

How to add a CAA Record on GoDaddy

  1. Go to the DNS Management page

  2. At the bottom of DNS Management page is the Records section, Add and select CAA

  3. Complete each field:

    1. Name – Type @ to point directly to your domain name
    2. Flags – Enter the number 0
    3. Tag – Type Issue if you want to enable Wildcard certificates for this domain
    4. Value – Enter the value of the CAs you would like to enable
    5. TTL – Leave a default of 1 hour
  4. Click Save

How to add a CAA Record in GoDaddy for domains registered at another company.

  1. Log in to your My Products page

  2. Select the My Products tab

  3. My Products

  4. Select Manage All

  5. Manage All

  6. From the top menu, click the DNS tab

  7. Select Manage Zones

  8. Manage Zones

  9. Enter the domain name you want and select Search

  10. On the DNS Management page, click Add in the Records Section

  11. Select the A from the menu

  12. Complete each field:

    1. Name – Type @ to point directly to your domain name
    2. Flags – Enter the number 0
    3. Tag – Type Issue if you want to enable Wildcard certificates for this domain
    4. Value – Enter the value of the CAs you would like to enable
    5. TTL – Leave a default of 1 hour
  13. Save
