You can connect your site to CodeGuard by providing your FTP/SFTP or MySQL/MS-SQL information. Pretty easy!
To activate your CodeGuard you will simply connect your website/database with their servers. The best option for you depends on your goals for using CodeGuard and your own server configuration. On the highest level, you have two choices: FTP/SFTP or MySQL/MS-SQL.

FTP
Pros:
• All hosting providers support this
• All files are available to CodeGuard (yes – also the ones outside of your website content such as logs, mail and user-created folders)
• You can choose which folders to back up and which not to

• It is not secure
• You will have to manually set up the database
SFTP
Pros:
• There is a Secure Transfer
• All files are available to CodeGuard (yes – also the ones outside of your website content such as logs, mail and user-created folders)
• You can choose which folders to back up and which not to

• Not all hosting providers support this
• You will have to manually set up the database
MySQL
Pros:
• You can choose to connect to the database directly or through an SSH tunnel
• All content that is accessible will be backed up by database user
Cons:
• In order to connect you will have to whitelist CodeGuards IP addresses
MS-SQL
Pros:
• All content that is accessible will be backed up by database user
Cons:
• You do not have the option to use the SSH tunnel, just direct connections
• In order to connect you will have to whitelist CodeGuards IP addresses
